How Can You Help?

Rescue

All programs begin with instruction on safety and appropriate conduct. This covers the rules for asking questions, handling artifacts, touching animals, and washing hands after touching. Whenever possible, the instructor will speak with the teacher, parent, program coordinator, or den leader to find out what the conduct rules are for each event, and use them in the program. We find this makes the program run more smoothly in most situations. Birthday parties and social events will generally be handled with a less lecture oriented format.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Rainforest Reptile Shows Herpetologists have sole discretion regarding allowing touching of animals and artifacts. This discretion is exercised only to prevent any harm or undue stress to any of our animals and artifacts, or to unruly guests.

  • Due to the nature of their skins, all amphibians are considered no touch animals.
  • No living venomous reptiles or highly venomous arthropods are used in our programming.
  • All programs will involve touching of live animals and handling of artifacts. There will be something to intrigue and delight all ages!

Thank you for choosing a Rainforest Reptile Shows Program for your child's birthday party. Our programs are meant to delight children and adults alike. If you have any questions or specific animal requests, please do not hesitate to let us know.

THIS SECTION WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU BOOK ONE OF OUR EXCITING PROGRAMS.

A Herpetologist will arrive 15 to 30 minutes prior to the designated time with the animals in plastic storage containers made for transporting these animals. These containers have latched lids for safety. The Herpetologist will check in with you prior to unloading the animals to determine the best way to proceed. It is usually not necessary for you to assist with this process. Reptiles do not require large containers for programs such as these, and so are easy to transport.

All programs begin with a talk to the children and parents on safety and appropriate conduct. This covers the rules for asking questions, handling artifacts, touching animals, and washing hands after touching. There will be an assortment of animals, some of which can be touched and some not. The instructor will inform the group how to respond to the animals each time one is brought out. At the end of the program, we will present the birthday child with a Junior Herpetologist Certificate. We will also give the birthday child an Alligator tooth in a bottle when we have them. (this is subject to availability)

For the enjoyment and safety of all involved, we ask that you follow these simple guidelines. Please provide a space for the Herpetologist that will not allow the children to surround him/her and the animals. Basically, put their backs to the wall, probably the safest place to be in a room full of sugar enriched children after all! Please do not serve food during the program.

We hope you and your child will find this to be the incredible experience we strive to provide. Again, feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
